Unwelcome Realisations and Old Mistakes (2025-03-15)

Aftermath at The Bar

• Following Aib’s dramatic exit, the group—Mia, Det, and Siz—remain at The Bar processing what just happened.
• Det ponders the scale of energy required for extradimensional manipulation. Mia, visibly agitated, insists they continue their talk elsewhere.
• Chimes offers snarky commentary as usual: "A tiefling and a fungus-crazy Ysoki discuss extraplanar architecture in a random bar."

The Walk Back Through Summer Springs

• The party exits into a strangely quiet street. Summer Springs has the feel of an abandoned western town with the dust, composite buildings, and faint rain.
• Mia proposes returning to the hotel to pack and regroup. Siz agrees; Det is uncertain but follows.
• On the walk, the group questions their assumptions:

 - **Mia** worries Charles might not be trustworthy.
 - **Det** considers whether those who abducted Magrete Steel might be trying to stop a greater threat.
 - **Siz** reflects on all the possibilities, voicing concern that Magrete’s work may have been misused—or worse, intentionally secret.

At the Hotel: Doubts and Theories

• Once safely inside their room, the group unloads their fears:

 - Mia flops onto the bed, exhausted: "What if Chimes is the real villain, planning to turn the universe into a giant fractal hard drive?"
 - Chimes indignantly responds, offended by the accusation.
 - Siz dryly jokes about “shoggoths,” and later reveals that she accidentally created one—a feeder entity—in a past experiment.

Siz’s Past: The Shoggoth Incident

• Siz opens up about a past mistake:

 - She once summoned a feeder into a fungal pet construct. It grew unstable and had to be burned out with excessive firepower.
 - This event led to her self-imposed exile to "bumpkin-space" to avoid endangering others or her clan.

• Chimes remarks with feigned scandal: "Has nobody taught you not to plot summoning curves into real space, rodent-cook?"

Preparing for the Next Step

• Det suggests it’s time to return to Bhoover and push Charles for clearer answers.
• She also notes that they are heavily outgunned, and that tracking the mercenaries who took Magrete might prove difficult without outside help.
• Mia proposes using her contacts at the spaceport to track the bounty hunters:

 - If they went through official channels, there may be logs.
 - Even an unsanctioned landing might have left traceable signatures.

• The team agrees to prepare for departure.
