The Lost Driver Incident (2024-07-21)
Setting & Atmosphere
- The session takes place in Den's Den Bar, continuing from the previous storm-ridden events.
- The weather is still violent but starting to subside, with winds battering the exterior.
- The bar remains a refuge for those caught outside, though tensions and distractions persist.
Main Events
Det’s Work & Frustrations
- Det is sitting alone at a booth, deep in her work with a datapad and her personal computer.
- She is distracted by frustration with her boss, Jeremy, who almost caused a mine cave-in due to reckless use of explosives.
- As she debates how to handle the situation, she uses a haptic keyboard to transcribe her notes.
- The storm doesn’t faze her, but when a loud bang comes from outside, she turns to look.
The Arrival of Sizzle
- Sizzle, a small Ysoki biohacker, is busy organizing and prepping food in the back of the bar.
- She works with high precision, ensuring everything is clean and stored properly.
- Unlike others, she is deeply focused on her tasks, unaware of the storm’s impact on the outside world.
The Orc’s Entrance
- A rhythmic banging on the door breaks the brief moment of peace.
- Den hurries to open the shutters and lets in the person knocking—a large orc.
- The orc (orcs) is soaked in sweat, covered in dust, and ripping off his bandana as he steps inside, swearing under his breath.
- Den immediately calls for water, and a small set of hands (Sizzle) delivers it from the kitchen, complete with ice and a biodegradable straw.
A Missing Shipment & an Urgent Job Offer
- Den and the orc, now identified as Charles, have a private, hushed conversation at the bar.
- Den suddenly exclaims "Well fuck!", visibly concerned.
- Charles reveals he had a shipment go missing, and his driver has not reported back.
- The storm has disrupted communications, and emergency services are too overwhelmed to help.
- Charles offers cash upfront for someone to investigate—urgency in his voice.
- Mia and Det both question whether rescue services should be involved, but Charles insists the Capital Emergency Services are swamped.
- The nature of the shipment is left vague, making Mia question its legality.
- Mia and Det both step up, considering the money and urgency.
- Mia confirms she can drive. - Det mentions she has mechanical experience from mining work.
The Ysoki Observer
- A black-furred rodent face (Sizzle) appears from the kitchen, observing the discussion.
- She has a dart gun slung across her back, giving the impression she is always ready for trouble.
- The Capy and Orc continue negotiating, offering more money for additional hands.
Current Status & Unresolved Questions
- Where is the missing driver?
- What exactly is in the shipment?
- Is this a legal job, or something more shady?
- How bad is the storm in the surrounding areas?
- Will Mia and Det actually go through with it?
